CSA says goodbye to long-haul service

CSA Czech Airlines’ only widebody aircraft has been grounded since 27 February 2020, because the Prague-Seoul route operated by the A330-200 has been closed down.

Initially, this connection was scheduled to restart on 6 April 2020, but after another month it is clear that a quick resumption of this long-haul service is out of the question. Furthermore, the leasing contract for the 19-year old A330 runs out in October. Three ordered A321XLR, which – albeit with little cargo capacity – could manage the route, will be delivered in 2025 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, CSA is deploying A319 to fly in medical equipment from China. The first return flight from Shanghai took place on 23 March, with a stopover in Novosibirsk in Russia. (ah)
