CSG rolls out 'SmartAssist'

The Customs Support Group (CSG) has launched AI-powered document processing to accelerate customs digitalisation at all of its European locations.

A tool called 'Customs SmartAssist' extracts data from documents using AI, optical character recognition and machine learning, enabling up to 30% more efficient customs declarations according for companies.

"As the module is self-learning, we expect an increase in efficiency of up to 50% by the end of the year," said John Wegman, CEO of the Customs Support Group.

The solution is already operational in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Ireland, and is also being rolled out in Germany, with full implementation expected by Q3/2025. The AI system pre-processes documents, while CSG’s experts review them. CSG aims to process over 1 million customs filings using 'SmartAssist' by year-end. (js)
