At the 47th general meeting of the Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) in the community hall of the German North Sea port town of Cuxhaven, at the mouth of the river Elbe, the 15-member board of directors was confirmed in office for the next two years.

In addition, Marc Itgen, head of Cuxhaven's economic development agency, has been elected to join the committee of the maritime industry's lobby with immediate effect.

Hans-Peter Zint, chairman of the board: "Next year we will continue to promote the port of Cuxhaven and position it as a good alternative route for transports between the continent and the UK in the Brexit scenario."

Other priorities include the further development of the German offshore industry centre and the electrification of the railway lines to and from Cuxhaven. (amh)
