Czech automotive trains rerouted

Since September, the Czech carrier CD Cargo has been able to meet 383 CD Cargo locomotives four times a day (twice in each direction) on a route through Austria and Germany. The trains run from Bratislava via Petrzalka, Vienna, Passau, Falkenberg and Elster, and vice-versa.

They are used to transport Volkswagen cars from a car factory in Devinska Nova Ves (Slovakia). These runs usually take place through Czechia, but because of capacity and operational problems at the crossing in Decin (Czechia), CD Cargo has recently rerouted the automotive trains through Austria and Germany The problems have been caused by the continuous closure of tracks in Decin, with complete night-time interruptions.
