D'Agostino confirmed at Port of Trieste's head

In Italy, the regional administrative court Lazio in Rome has granted the two claims advanced by Zeno D’Agostino and the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea in Trieste against his dismissal as president of the Port Authority.

This will allow D’Agostino to return, and the acting director of the port, Mario Sommariva, will return to his previous position as secretary general.

At the beginning of June, the Italian anti-corruption agency Anac retrospectively declared D'Agostino’s election as head of the port of Trieste in November 2016 as null and void.

There were protests in Trieste, Italy's maritime cluster. Sommariva supported D’Agostino’s return and emphasised that this was a case not of corruption but of bureaucracy. (kk)
