Damen reports strong 2024

Damen shipyards group reported a strong 2024, with revenue exceeding €3 billion and net profit rising to €58 million from €43 million. The Dutch shipbuilder’s order book reached a record €10.4 billion after securing €5.9 billion in new contracts. Damen delivered 146 vessels, including Europe’s first fully electric tug Volta 1 and the UAE’s Bu Tinah as the company reported. Tugs remained its largest newbuild category, followed by dredgers.

Orders also included electric ferries for Canada and a hydrogen-powered commissioning service operation vessel for Windcat. Arnout Damen, CEO of the company, expects 2025 results to match 2024 levels. "Together with all our colleagues in the Netherlands and abroad, we aim to be the most innovative and sustainable shipbuilder in Europe", he added. (js)
