Deliveries with renewable diesel

At the beginning of November, Fedex Express Europe began using renewable diesel – made from organic matter or waste materials – to fuel a portion of its company-owned trucks. Trucks will use this fuel when they depart from the recently reopened road-hub in Duiven, Netherlands.

The ability to reduce emissions in linehaul trucking by using renewable diesel depends not only on fuel supplies, but also on the infrastructure, the transport company said.

Therefore, the project is currently only small-scale and limited to the Netherlands. However, the use of renewable diesel is also encouraged on continental routes from the Netherlands. The company aims to achieve carbon-neutral operations worldwide by 2040. (ben)
