Doubling Bournemouth freight capacity
Cargo First, the cargo division of Bournemouth Airport (BOH), has completed major new handling facilities, doubling its freight capacity and consolidating operations on the airport’s north side.
The expansion includes three ICAO Code E aircraft stands, a 3,000 sqm Customs-bonded warehouse, and improved road access with new truck parking and service yards. Managing director Steve Gill said the investment strengthens Bournemouth’s role as "a highly attractive alternative to congested London hubs."
The airport handled a record 31,000 t of freight in the year to March 2025, up 70% year-on-year. Key operator European Cargo welcomed the development, citing faster turnaround times and easier access to the London market. (ah)
