DP World balanced in 2020

Container volumes continued to flow via DP World in 2020. Throughout the first year of the pandemic, DP World handled 71.2 million teu, volumes developed sidewards (+0.2% on a like-for-like basis).

This was possible due to a strong performance in Q4/2020, during which the gross container volumes surged by 7.6% in comparison to 2019, and by 6.5% on a like-for-like basis. In total, 19.1 million teu passed DP World's portfolio of container terminals in Q4/2020 worldwide.

On a regional basis, volume growth was mainly driven by Mundra (India), London Gateway (UK), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Antwerp Gateway (Belgium) and Sokhna (Egypt). In Americas, growth was driven by DP World Santos (Brazil) and Vancouver (Canada).

Jebel Ali (UAE) handled 3.4 million teu in Q4/2020, staying stable (+0.3% year-on-year). The reported FY 2020 growth of 33.3% in Americas and Australia region is mainly due to the consolidation of Caucedo (Dominican Republic) and the acquisition of Fraser Surrey Docks (Canada). (cd)
