Dualog and NYK continue digitalisation strategy

Tromsø (Norway)-based Dualog and Tokyo (Japan)-headquartered NYK have agreed on a long-term industrial research and development project. It is supported by Innovation Norway, the Norwegian government's instrument for innovation and development of Norwegian enterprise and industry.

Dualog and NYK plan to develop digitised products and services across a testbed of 50 vessels with a view to eventually rolling out these offers across the company-owned fleet of 250 ships. The accord complements the partnership both companies signed in the summer of 2017, which focused on pushing the boundaries for automation, the internet of things (IoT), and big data analysis.

Drawing on Dualog’s digital platform, the teams of both companies work to ensure efficiency in the way systems between ship and shore talk to one another, both in-house and with third-party managers and solutions providers. The project is scheduled to last until the end of 2021. (fd)
