E-trucks link Hamburg, Ludwigslust
Contargo Road Logistics Hamburg has launched its first fully electric fleet, in collaboration with Flexport, deploying battery-electric trucks.
Since May, containers for a manufacturer of clothes and equipment for outdoor activities have been transported from the port of Hamburg to a warehouse in Ludwigslust. According to Contargo the client requested a low-emission solution to cut the CO₂ footprint of its supply chain. The vehicles, partly running in three shifts, are charged at five company-owned fast charging stations.
"The introduction of e-trucks in Hamburg was a success, and demand for low-emission transport has steadily grown. We now operate 13 e-trucks," said Contargo Road Logistics Hamburg managing director Christian Schäfers. Under the new partnership with Flexport, Contargo handles two to three round trips daily. (js)
