East Midlands Gateway terminal on track for completion

Maritime Transport in the UK has made rapid progress on the construction of its rail terminal at Castle Donington, East Midlands Gateway (EMG), due to begin operating officially at the start of 2020, according to the company.

In addition to ongoing works, the almost 70,000 sqm interchange has recently taken delivery of three new Sany reach stackers and two Sany empty container handlers to meet the expected strong customer demand.

Now rail-connected, Maritime’s largest terminal has already seen over 50,000 cubic tonnes of concrete poured ready for its container handling operations to commence. The new facility will be capable of handling up to sixteen 775 m long freight trains daily. (ben)
