Egypt sends Gaza convoy with urgent winter aid

On 10 December 2025 the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched its 91st Zad Al-Izza convoy to Gaza, delivering over 10,000 t of humanitarian aid, including 45,000 blankets, 25,900 winter clothing items and 10,225 tents. The convoy also contains over 6,200 t of food, 2,600 t of medical supplies, and 1,200 t of petroleum products. Egypt has been leading humanitarian efforts to Gaza since October 2023, delivering over 665,000 t of aid amid ongoing Israeli blockades.

As Gaza braces for Storm Byron, expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds, conditions for displaced families are worsening. Flooded camps and inadequate shelter raise concerns for the health of vulnerable populations, especially children facing high rates of malnutrition. Humanitarian agencies warn that the combination of severe weather and ongoing shortages will heighten the risk of disease outbreaks, emphasizing the urgent need for continued aid.
