El Al's end of an era

After gradually replacing its B747-400 with new B787-9 since October 2017, El Al Israel Airlines is about to end commercial "jumbo jet" operations this week-end. According to Airline Route, the carrier has its last B747 revenue flight, a charter between Rome FCO (Italy) and Tel Aviv (Israel), on 3 November 2019.

The airline withdrew its only B747 freighter from service already last year. It had offered a capacity of 124 t per flight for nine years, operating between Tel-Aviv, Liege (Belgium) and New York (USA).

EL AL Cargo has signed agreements with major airlines as well as with trucking companies on various continents. These agreements allow EL AL Cargo to move cargo to most destinations in Europe, North America and the Far East. (ah)
