Electrifying service to rural Alaska

Alaska-based cargo carrier Ryan Air has placed a deposit-backed order for Beta Technologies’ "Alia" CTOL electric aircraft, alongside plans to deploy up to 10 Beta Charge Cubes across its network. The airline, which serves more than 70 rural communities, aims to expand access and improve reliability in regions where air service is often the only link for food, medicine, and other essentials.

The move continues a legacy dating back to Wilfred Ryan, Sr., who delivered mail by dog team before the family embraced aviation in 1953. By integrating electric aircraft and charging infrastructure, Ryan Air and its partners hope to improve energy reliability and sustainability in remote areas where diesel remains the main power source.
