Elephant locomotives en route to West Africa
Sinara’s affiliate STM Trading House has begun the delivery of six 882 kW TGM8A Elephant diesel locomotives to Compagnie des Bauxites de Kindia (CBK) in Guinea, a West African plant of the Russian aluminium company Rusal. The first batch consists of three locomotives, of which each was loaded onto a separate motor-truck using a gantry system.
The truck convoy has already reached the port of St. Petersburg for the onward journey by sea to Conakry in Guinea. Thee second batch is scheduled to be despatched in Q1/2022.
TGM8A is a four-axle diesel locomotive with hydraulic transmission, designed for shunting operations on 1,435 mm gauge railway tracks. (ben)
