Elvis recommends opening up new markets
Transport volumes have shown a significant increase from their exceptionally low levels at the beginning of this year. However, this development is far behind previous years, as Elvis (European Freight Association of International Freight Forwarders) concludes in its latest market report.
For example, the ratio of freight volumes to available loading space fell by 21.6% in April 2023 compared to April 2022. The same applies the freight volumes of part loads. Here, the index in April 2023 was 10.4% below that of the same month last year.
In this period of continuing economic uncertainty, the association’s market report advises freight forwarders to review fixed costs and capacities and to expand their customer base and range of services. (ben)
