Enhancing car carrier operations in Japan

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has partnered with Japan Cargo Tally Corporation (JCTC) to introduce a new system, J-Carps, to enhance the efficiency and capacity of car carrier operations in Japan. Historically, shipping companies and JCTC used separate systems to track cargo loads, which they shared via e-mail.

J-Carps centralises this data, enabling real-time access to loading plans and performance data for all stakeholders involved, including shipping and stevedore companies.

This unified system approach is expected to increase loading capacities on car carriers, given the current shortage of such vessels.

The adoption of J-Carps marks a significant step in MOL's ongoing digital transformation efforts, which aim to optimise transport services and reinforce the carrier’s position as a preferred logistics partner. (pb)
