Etihad and Abu Dhabi hub handle record tonnage

Etihad Cargo, part of the UAE flag carrier Etihad Airways, airlifted a record 45,000 t of freight in July, 37% more than in the like-for-like month in 2012 (32,876 t).

The new figures were driven largely by increases in key export markets such as India, Hong Kong and China and the Middle East's demand for foodstuffs, predominately from the Netherlands, ahead of Ramadan,

The carrier's Abu Dhabi hub also posted record tonnage for July with 70,500 t flown into, out of and through the cargo facilities, which are now part of Etihad's subsidiary organisation, Etihad Airport Services – Cargo.
