EU funding for Swedish and Finnish ports

The Ports of Stockholm are to benefit from European investments. In total, the EU has decided to support eight Swedish infrastructure projects this year with grants from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Fund.

One of the agreements has now been signed, with the goal to strengthen the links between Port of Kapellskär, Sweden and the Port of Naantali, Finland, to reduce, among other things, air pollution within the port areas. The project will also mean investments in facilities for the provision of onshore power for vessels at the quayside.

The Port of Kapellskär, as a maritime link of importance in Europe for the transport of passengers and cargo, has been designated as a comprehensive port within the extensive EU Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The project will start during October/November 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023. (cd)
