Even closer to Europe

Gruber opens new hub in Verona freight village. Gruber Logistics is growing strongly. Its annual turnover has approximately doubled from the EUR 360 million it stood at before the pandemic. With a new investment the Bolzano-based Italian company is now moving into an important European freight transport hub.

Gruber Logistics has already been active in Verona for more than 40 years. Now the firm is strategically expanding its presence there by investing around EUR 2 million in a platform in the Interporto Quadrante Europa freight village.

The centre will sport 70 loading docks and have as many as 100 new employees by the end of the year, allowing it to handle daily departures to all of Europe.

Adding value with integrated solutions

Christian Gruber, president of Gruber Logistics, expects this investment to “enable us to further strengthen our position in the fields of logistics, international and national distribution and intermodal transport.”

Managing director Marcello Corazzola, who is also a member of the firm’s management board, added during the signing of the contract in April that “our added value in the market lies in our ability to offer our customers integrated solutions, especially in terms of the infrastructure they require. Verona is a multi-service hub where logistics, national and international distribution, complete transport and intermodal activities are all synergistically linked.”

More than ’Romeo & Juliet’ re-enacted

The attraction is mutual. Matteo Gasparato, the president of the Consorzio ZAI, which is behind the freight village, praised Gruber, as the establishment of the new facility by the well-known company represents “a tangible sign of the strength and attractivity of our Interporto as a logistics hub.”

The connections have already been in place for some time now,

and go beyond a simple relationship between a logistics services enterprise and an infrastructure provider. Rather, both sides collaborate in promoting key topics, including digitalisation and sustainability, including through joint involvement in research and innovation projects funded by the EU Commission.
