Evergreen pumps up volume
Taiwan-headquartered Evergreen Marine has ordered two new ultra large container ships of 24,000 teu. The container units will be built by China's Jiangnan Shipyard. The investment is valued at USD 320 million.
Delivery dates have not made public so far. A 24,000 teu pair of sister ships ordered this summer at Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua is expected to be delivered from 2023 till 2024.
Evergreen, among the top ten of carriers worldwide, currently runs a fleet of more than 200 own and chartered units, including 120 company-owned vessels with a carrying capacity of 1.45 million teu. (sh)
