Exchanging rail data quickly and easily

UIC, the international railway association, and railML, a conglomerate of European railways, universities, software developers and engineering offices, have laid the foundations for a universal format to exchange infrastructure data at a meeting in Paris. The initiative should enable railway companies to invest on a coordinated basis as opposed to doing so individually. The common standard is to be made available as soon as possible. The electronic applications are to be broad and enable the quick and easy use of information on legal EU obligations (RNIF, Inspire) and on day-to-day business. (ben)
