Exoskeletons protect Geodis staff

The logistics provider Geodis recently introduced exoskeletons that are designed to protect employees’ backs when working at the company’s warehouse in Venlo (Netherlands).

The exoskeletons are a type of brace that provides support to the lower back when staff members lift and carry objects during their pick and pack activities.

The support is provided by a spring system that acts as a type of counterweight. When the employee bends over, the spring pushes back so that the load on the back is reduced by 40%.

"Staff are fitter after a working day thanks to these exoskeletons," saids Sjors van Enckevort, the company’s site manager contract logistics in Venlo. (rf)
