Exploding costs boost turnover

Q2/2022 brought exploding costs for the German transport logistics industry, which were partly reflected in rising freight prices. These climbed by 14% compared to Q1/2022.

According to the latest economic analysis of the BGL (Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung), the business situation balance (average of net sales and operating result) also rose from -1% to +9% compared to the previous quarter.

Compared to Q1/2022, 10% of the 237 companies surveyed for the report reduced their fleet capacity in Q2/2022, while only 5% of the companies expanded it. 10.5% of the companies recorded a fall in turnover in the reporting period, while 45% reported an increase.

29% of the companies qualified their operating result in Q2/2022 as poor, and only 13% as satisfactory. Vehicle utilisation fell for 8.5% of businesses and rose for 23%. (ben)
