Feasibility study at Stockholm Norvik Port

At Stockholm Norvik Port - the "perfectly located port in the heart of the Stockholm region", according to Ports of Stockholm CCO Johan Wallén - a feasibility study is being launched to establish a node for captured carbon dioxide.

The goal is to increase the possibilities for reducing emissions or even achieving zero emissions by establishing a regional, sustainable, and cost-efficient carbon dioxide infrastructure in Eastern Sweden using the carbon capture and storage (CCS) process.

Clara Lindblom, chair of the board at Ports of Stockholm, emphasises that the port, opened three years ago, has a potential to become the largest of all similar projects in Sweden: "The proposed transport solution would be able to handle a significant proportion of the carbon dioxide transport from Sweden, potentially around 9 million t per year."
