Fiap demands Alpine corridor measures

Landslides, traffic quotas and unilateral transit restrictions are currently paralysing key Alpine routes in northwestern Italy.

According to the Italian road transport association Fiap the situation can no longer be labelled a series of isolated challenges but a systemic crisis affecting one of the country’s most important logistics backbones. Connections to France and Austria are severely impaired.

Astra Cuneo representative Gabriele Bracco warned that local firms are bearing the burden of fragmented infrastructure and poor coordination between authorities. Alessandro Peron, secretary general of Fiap, called for the immediate creation of a permanent inter-ministerial task force, including cross-border cooperation with French institutions, to ensure the continuity of freight flows.
