Fiata elects new global leadership team in Hanoi
Fiata has elected a new presidency and board to lead the world’s freight forwarding community, marking a historic first with the election of Nadia Abdul Aziz of the UAE as the federation’s first female senior vice president. At the general meeting in Hanoi, Thomas Sim (photo) from the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), was elected president, succeeding Turgut Erkeskin (Türkiye). The new team includes senior vice presidents Jens Roemer (Belgium), Abdul Aziz (UAE) and Yukki Hanafi Nugrahawan (Indonesia).
In his inaugural address, Sim pledged to "be a bridge between cultures, sectors, and generations," emphasising collaboration and diversity as Fiata's strength. The 2025–2027 board will focus on sustainability, digitalisation, and regional unity across the 150 territories represented by Fiata members worldwide. (ah)
