Fiege cuts first turf for new hub in Switzerland

The logistics provider is expanding its location in Bülach, Switzerland. In the immediate vicinity of Zurich Airport, the company is building a new logistics centre offering 17,000 sqm of additional storage space. The property is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.

The new facility will help Fiege to accelerate and improve the efficiency of its logistics processes for its clients from the e-commerce, retail and industry sectors. The logistics centre is being built right next to the company’s already existing facility in Bülach, just a stone’s throw away from Zurich Airport and not far from the Swiss-German border.

While the ground floor is to store mainly pallets in high-bay storage systems, Fiege will install an autostore on the upper floor as an automated warehouse solution.

The logistics centre will be equipped with an on-demand LED lighting system and an air-source heat pump. Fiege is planning to produce most of the required energy with a rooftop photovoltaic unit for captive use. (ben)
