First 40 t hydrogen tractor in service

DB Schenker has put the first hydrogen tractor unit approved for regular operation into service in Germany. The 40 t fuel cell truck produced by the manufacturer Hyzon is deployed in daily transports between Cologne and Eupen (Belgium).

The tractor's range is around 400 km, and its maximum payload is higher than that of pure e-trucks. Another major advantage of hydrogen technology in everyday use is that refuelling the vehicle takes only 15 minutes.

DB Schenker uses the Hyzon truck in a pay-per-use model of the rental company Hylane, which specialises in CO2-neutral commercial vehicles. The cooperation between the two companies also includes joint development projects. (ben)
