First Belgium haulier tests battery-electric truck

Van Mieghem Logistics, a family-owned company specialised in international transport and national distribution services, is testing the eActros on daily distribution journeys of up to 200 km in the vicinity of its headquarters in Saintes, Belgium.

Van Mieghem is the first logistics company to test a first all-electric eActros in the country. The haulier will initially use the vehicle for delivering pharmaceutical goods to hospitals and nursing homes.

The 25 t truck with a range of around 200 km is equipped with a Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated swap body, which is also electrically operated and therefore emission-free. The batteries of the truck are charged overnight at the company’s warehouse. (ben)
