Fleet renewal supports cargo growth

China Airlines has ordered four Boeing 777-8 Freighters, alongside ten 777-9 passenger aircraft and nine options. The new freighters will replace older models and strengthen the airline’s long-haul cargo capacity.

With 747-size payload and 30% lower fuel burn, the 777-8F offers high efficiency and reduced emissions—key to China Airlines’ sustainability targets. The airline, already operating 777 and 747 freighters, will benefit from fleet commonality and greater operational flexibility.

The order, booked in March, makes China Airlines the first 777X customer in Taiwan and adds to Boeing’s growing 777X backlog, now exceeding 520 units. (ah)
