Flying back to the start of the jet age

Lufthansa Cargo, which reports a turnover of EUR 2.5 billion (-7.4%) and a stable freight performance of 8.9 billion rtk in 2019, has announced it is making every effort to maintain the flight operations of its cargo aircraft in the current crisis.

All available freighters are in service. In addition, Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa German Airlines are jointly examining the additional use of PAX aircraft for cargo transport. Meanwhile, as of today, 23 March 2020, Lufthansa offers only seven long-haul destinations: three weekly flights from Frankfurt to Tokyo, Bangkok, Johannesburg, São Paulo, Montréal, Chicago and New York EWR.

The airline also operates 30 daily short-haul flights from Frankfurt and about then flights with Lufthansa Cityline from Munich. Chairman and CEO Carsten Spohr: "That’s almost like our flight plan of 1955." (ah)
