Flying for current and future food needs


Emirates Skycargo has used B777F and B777-300ER passenger freighters to help maintain and replenish food supplies in the UAE. The air cargo carrier has helped import more than 34,000 t of food since January 2020, out of which 13,000 t were imported between March and April coming from over 35 countries.

 

In another move, on 17 April, in partnership with Agility, the carrier deployed a B777-300ER to transport close to 50 t of fresh hazelnut paste from Istanbul to Melbourne via Dubai.

 

At the same time, American Airlines shipped 52.3 t of soybean seeds from Buenos Aires to Miami in order to supply American farmers in the middle of a busy planting season. 

 

The flight on 16 April broke American's all-time record for freight volume (46.7 t), which was held by a 2014 flight between Los Angeles and London. (ah)
