Forwarders and railways join forces

Seven logistics and transport companies with warehouses and other facilities along the French railway network are teaming up with the railfreight company Fret SNCF. The aim of the joint Rail Route Connect (2RC) project is to create the first national network for environmentally friendly combined road-rail transport.

The plan is for Fret SNCF to ship goods on long routes through France and the freight forwarders to take over pre- and on-carriage servicers.

The carriers involved are Dupessey, Laforêt, Lahaye, Lassalle, Media Vrac, Ederlog Multimodal and MGE. The partners will also handle international shipments in Europe. (ben)
