From Copenhagen to Hong Kong

Danish provider Scan Global Logistics (SGL) is continuing its expansion strategy and acquiring Sea-Air Logistics (SAL), effective 5 July 2022. SAL is an air and ocean freight logistics provider headquartered in Hong Kong.

Nine months ago, SGL acquired SAL's longstanding partner, Horizon International Cargo (UK, USA, The Netherlands, Spain and Japan). The takeover is to help SGL further expand its business into technology, pharma & healthcare and other markets.

"An increased market share in Intra-Asia, Far- East Westbound and Trans-Pacific Eastbound trade lanes, coupled with SAL's vast experience in cross-border supply-chain services, will enable SGL to extend and improve its portfolio," said Robert Rankin, managing director of SAL. He will stay on board, as will SAL's 180 employees, and report to Rickard Ingvarsson, CEO Asia. SAL was established in Hong Kong in 1995. (sh)
