Full steam ahead for On-Dock Rail in Melbourne

The Victorian government in Australia has approved AUD 125 million (EUR 75.5 million) to build a new rail infrastructure at the port of Melbourne. The port’s rail solution will be developed over the next three years.

The project includes the construction of a new on-dock rail, the expanding of the rail shuttle network connecting freight hubs in Melbourne’s north and west to the port as well as the construction of new intermodal terminals at Truganina and Beveridge and the installation of a new automated signalling for faster railfreight.

The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) and the port authority in Melbourne have welcomed Government’s commitment. (ben)
