Further Eurasian intermodal route launched

Nurminen Logistics is banking on the new southern Trans-Caspian route. The Finnish forwarder despatched its first full-length container train from Chongqing, China on 10 May 2022. The train will run via Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania to Central Europe.

Nurminen Logistics built the route, which combines rail and sea transport, in two months from scratch in cooperation with the Kazakh railways. Transit time from China to Central Europe is three times faster than sea freight and there is strong demand for the new service, Nurminen said.

The second train will leave China already on 25 May and is almost sold out. Starting in June, Nurminen plans to operate the new service once a week. (ben)
