Gebrüder Weiss reports slight turnover increase
Despite volatile market conditions, the Austrian transport and logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss (GW) was able to increase its 2013 turnover for the fourth year in a row. GW reported preliminary net sales of roughly EUR 1.2 billion EUR for the last fiscal year. Thanks to the upturn in the economy in H2/2013, the group achieved its targets for the year, and the positive trend of the past years was consolidated with a slight increase in turnover of 3.3%.
The strategic orientation of Gebrüder Weiss also remained constant last year. The group pursued its corporate goal of achieving service excellence, and also successfully continued its strategy of expanding eastwards, by the acquisition of the forwarder Far Freight, which specialises in the CIS and Caucasus countries, the commissioning of a new logistics centre in Tbilisi (Georgia), and the inauguration of its first Turkish site in Istanbul.
