Gelodis launches Asean's green trucking pilot
Geodis, a leading global transport and logistics provider, has initiated southeast Asia's first cross-border trucking pilot powered by Neste MY Renewable Diesel, marking a significant step towards decarbonising the region's road transport. This pilot involves a dedicated Euro-5 truck travelling from Singapore to the Thailand-Malaysia border, utilising renewable diesel supplied by Neste, the foremost producer of sustainable fuels. Interion, a Singaporean fuel solutions firm, is responsible for facilitating fuel distribution during these operations.
The renewable diesel used, derived from 100% renewable sources like used cooking oil and animal fat waste, can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel. This initiative not only aims to assess fuel performance and operational feasibility but also aligns with Geodis' commitment to a sustainable supply chain. Following the pilot, GEODIS plans to further its decarbonisation efforts and expand renewable fuel adoption across its fleet in the Asia Pacific, contributing to the goals of the 2015 Paris agreement.
