Geodis' first generation of mobile robots

Geodis is upgrading a distribution centre in Hong Kong, SAR China, by implementing warehouse-based robotics and automation technology supplied by Geek+, a supplier of smart logistics tools through advanced robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), in order to accelerate a shift towards digitalisation. The initiative is driven by the sustained e-commerce boom and the requirement for swift order fulfilment.

The project is to be carried out at the Yuen Long Warehouse Distribution Centre (YLDC) in Hong Kong. Geodis' initial AMR deployment features customised storage racks and shelves that do not require aisles in between while parked.

This high-density storage buffer allows the company to maximise its storage capacity, while the Geek+ robots will be used for locating, tracking and moving inventory through “goods-to-person picking” solutions. (sh)
