Geodis steps up automotive engagement

BMW Korea has opened a new regional parts distribution centre for BMW, Mini and motorcycle spare parts in Anseong, 70 km south of the South Korean capital Seoul. The new platform had to be built because the country is a major growth market for BMW.

Geodis has been entrusted with the logistics at the over 50,000 sqm site, one of the German vehicle maker’s largest worldwide. Geodis expects to manage approximately one million order lines per year at the new platform, as well as handle auto parts deliveries across South Korea.

At the new site, the group will deal with more than twice the volume of automotive parts, compared to the previous facility. Anseong is within two hours’ drive from Incheon international airport. Seafreight is channelled via the port of Busan. (mw)
