German NGO honoured for humanitarian logistics innovation

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) will receive the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics 2025 – the first time the award is going to Germany. The Bonn-based NGO is recognised for its 'Emergency Supplies Prepositioning Strategy' (Esups), launched in 2019 to improve the way relief goods are stored and managed ahead of disasters.

At its core is "Stockholm", a digital platform mapping inventories worldwide and enabling coordinated strategies among governments, NGOs and UN agencies. The jury praised Esups as a pioneering model that avoids overstocking, cuts costs and shortens response times. Today, more than 120 organisations exchange data on stocks in 60 countries.

The medal, sponsored by the Fritz Institute, will be presented on 4 December at the Logistics Hall of Fame gala in Berlin. (ah)
