German SRO being launched in stages
German Ports is introducing its new 'secure release order' (SRO) for container imports on 1 October 2025. The digital process, developed by Dakosy and DBH Logistics IT, will be rolled out in three stages, aiming to ensure a smooth transition.
In the first phase, shipping lines will begin using the SRO in the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven. From 2 November, freight forwarders, importers and hauliers will be onboarded.
Full implementation becomes mandatory on 3 November at two terminals, before extending to all other sites from 17 November. Marco Molitor of DBH Logistics IT said the phased start is designed to help participants prepare, while Dakosy’s Ulrich Wrage stressed the importance of a reliable approach for critical port infrastructure.
