Gestamp values logistics provider's LNG trucks
Gefco has been contracted to handle "just in time" transports for Gestamp in Portugal, using trucks with liquid natural gas (LNG) engines. The estimated emissions' savings will be around 57 t of CO2 per year compared to diesel-powered trucks.
Since March 2021, the automotive engineering multinational has been using Gefco's sustainable trucks to transport automotive components manufactured in its Vendas Novas factory to its customers in Palmela.
Gestamp selected Gefco Portugal after a tender at the end of 2020. The two-year contract involves the transport of 86,400 t of automotive components per year. The LNG trucks cover a distance of 900 km per day. (sh)
