Ghma calls for urgent action

The Global hydrogen mobility alliance (Ghma) has published its 'market activation strategy', urging Europe to act quickly to prevent falling behind global competitors in hydrogen mobility. The coalition of transport, energy and industry representatives warns that current strategies have not overcome high costs or triggered large-scale adoption, particularly in heavy-duty transport.

The report identifies tipping points needed for self-sustaining growth, calling for urgent action on five fronts: prioritising hydrogen deployment in trucks, closing the cost gap with diesel through scale and targeted support, committing to large-scale refuelling stations of at least 1t/day, decoupling infrastructure ramp-up from hydrogen decarbonisation with a clear transition timeline, and aligning industry and policy to standardise rules and accelerate permitting.
