Global player builds hub in northern Italy

Dematic has now finished automating the distribution centre of global luxury goods group Kering in Trecate, Italy, 90 km northeast of Turin. The first part of the building has already been in operation since March 2020, with the more than 100,000 sqm second area coming on stream at the end of Q2/2021.

The new global logistics centre was built in record time and covers an area of more than 162,000 sqm. The company was also able leverage its partnership with Metis Consulting and XPO Logistics for this project.

The distribution centre serves demand from regional warehouses, retail shops, wholesalers and e-commerce retailers worldwide and is expected to significantly increase Kering's capacity to ship up to 80 million garments per year and warehouse up to 20 million garments. The fashion group also plans to use the facility to reduce throughput times by around 50%. (sh)
