Good vibes in San Pedro Bay

The Port of Long Beach is keeping the pace. July’s throughput of almost 786,000 teu is just ahead (+0.13%) of the record achieved in the same month last year.

While imports declined by 1.8% to 376,000 teu, exports went down by 0.5% to 109,000 teu. Yet, empty containers moved through the port were up 2.8% to more than 300,000 teu. From January to July 2022, the port moved almost 5,794,000 teu, 4.6% more than in the same period in 2021. With the July result, the Californian port has broken monthly records in six out of the last seven months.

Since consumer demand in USA is decreasing, it seems less probable that “container dwell fee” will be introduced in San Pedro Bay. (sh)
