Governor Hochul announces senior administration appointments


Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the nomination of Kathryn Garcia as the new executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, succeeding her role as director of state operations. Governor Hochul praised Garcia for her significant contributions to transformative infrastructure projects over the past four years, including the gateway tunnel and Micron initiatives. Garcia expressed her pride in her accomplishments and commitment to continuing to serve New Yorkers in her new capacity.

In addition, Jackie Bray, the current commissioner of the division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, will take over as the director of state operations. Governor Hochul highlighted Bray's experience in emergency management and her achievements in policy implementation. Both Garcia and Bray emphasized their dedication to enhancing the lives of New Yorkers and maintaining effective government operations. Outgoing port authority executive director Rick Cotton endorsed Garcia's appointment, highlighting her exceptional qualifications and collaborative spirit.
