'Grande Auckland' delivered


The Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of the 'Grande Auckland', the second of seven pure car and truck carriers ordered from Shanghai Waigaoqiao shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading, part of CSSC.

 

The 200 m vessel, with a beam of 38 m and tonnage of 77,500 t, can carry 9,241 ceu and features four decks for rolling units weoighing up to 250 t and 6.5 m high.

 

Equipped with a Man B&W electronic engine, the ship delivers one of the lowest fuel consumption rates in its class, according to Grimaldi. Awarded the 'ammonia ready' class notation by Rina, the vessel can be converted to run on ammonia. The 'Grande Auckland' aims to strengthen Grimaldi’s Asia–Europe services. (js)
